Four easy ways to follow the news

January 2, 2011

You need a system for following the news. Throughout the semester, you’ll be quizzed on your knowledge of the top stories. Here are four ideas to help you keep up.

OPTIONS

1) Use this very blog. On the right, you’ll see Google Top Stories and, below those, links to all of the news organizations listed on the syllabus.

2) Set up iGoogle. Add widgets for each of the news organizations and can organize them on the page.

3) Go to Google News. I like this one a lot.

4) Not as thorough, but since you’re there already… Facebook: “Like” the news organizations (if it has a fan page), and then create a friend list just for the news. Then, when you look at your Facebook news feed, you can select your news friend list and see what the news organizations are posting.

Two more aggregation sites to check out: newser.com and newsy.com
